A New Way To Anime!

Haven't seen anyone make one of these yet, so I figured, "Hey, the sooner we figure out good suggestions for next year, the better. It's always good to get an early start. :)" And by suggestions, I mean ones mainly for improvement and things that could be improved on, but also for events.

It seemed that the problem this first year was that since people didn't trust the convention yet, they made accusations and assumptions rather than suggestions and constructive criticism, but hey, now that people see it's a legitimate convention, that's all behind us and done with. (Meaning we can leave all the drama behind. :3)

So I guess I'll start with one: The only one I can really think of at the moment is finding a few more people to manage the site so that the updates are a bit quicker, because I'm sure it's a pain in the butt for one person to be solely in charge of updating the site constantly, and maybe making the layout a bit more user-friendly. (Meaning making a forum tab at the top so that you don't have to travel directly through the front page or 'recent posts' section to get to the discussions, and whatnot).

Post your constructive suggestions here. :)

Another thing to add to your updating site and stuff suggestion would be,
Having the time everything starts and what not online.
Also the place we have the con , at Hotels like the Westin i was fairly uncomfortable with some of the guests staying at the hotel. Like this one guy that we ran into 3 times in less then 2 hours. It.....rather...creepy. (Also there was a casino below the second floor soooooo it was hard to get back and forth from the car and back upstairs , im only 14 not much i can do about casino rules.)

So someplace maybe farther from the strip and closer to some fast food places --i was starving the entire day ;~; --

More advertising so we can have more attendees and we dont lose out on the third day. (Yes i actually heard about that the third day when we went to go pick up my brother from work near the westin i went to check it out again and talked to someone who said the third day got cancelled.)
On another note i might do some advertising for you guys at Anime Vegas after a skit. :]
Not sure if this is helpful but it's just some things i manged to pull from my mind.

I agree with that, too. It was a little bit confusing for me too, but I think the reason it ended up that way this year was because of the venues being required to switch on such short notice. But yeah, as far as the time badge pick-up and other stuff would be, I agree it would be a good idea and whatnot to list the time that the con opens, at least.

And regarding troublesome attendees, there should be some sort of clearly-set warning guideline regarding behavior, because there was one certain attendee who was trying to hit on all the female attendees and I am sure he made some of them (including me) very uncomfortable, but I don't think he was penalized for it.

Maybe more panels as well It was kinda boring going from the gaming room to the main event room I think we should have more varieties of rooms then just three or 4.Also a much bigger place would be good away from all those who you would think would be use to all the odd balls her in vegas counting myself as one of the odd balls XD.It was still fun though

Well, as far as the bigger space, do remember that this convention just started this first year so it needs to build up its funds and whatnot, but that is a good idea, and this next year I am sure the planning for more panels can start much earlier. (Yeah, and it was kind of amusing to see all the 'normal' people -the ones going to the gym room or the conferences being held in that middle room- being either creeped out or confused by all the anime festivities going on.)

Not sure the "male revue" would be the best idea if it's going to be a family-friendly convention, lmao! But yeah, I agree that the convention turned out very well, despite the Sunday issue (which is understandable). And yes, a note to everyone: PIMP OUT THE CONVENTION AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! Let's make next year EVEN BETTER! :D

This isn't just an adults con , i wouldn't care if we were near a casino just not in a casino.
The guy i was talking about was not a kid he looked about 30 or 35 and kept finding us outside of the con area,

....The excalibur actually sounds good i've been there a few times. Scratch my earlier comment. XDD
I agree Mika.

Hmm well i've pondered on Mika's comment for near 2 weeks.
I now know what my real response is and not just 2 seconds given thought.
Mika , Vegas doesn't just revolve around gambling. If you want to gamble go ahead and go gamble , drive your own butt somewhere you can. If I was a parent I wouldn't want to expose my kid to that kind of environment.
Im a 14 year old of course im not going to be able to handle a grown man , I dont get hit on a lot sooo?
If I want to cosplay in public i realize ill get looked at but considering not everyone is an attention whore , go ahead.
I like your idea for the excalibur but eventually im hoping they'll move ALV to a con center once the economy gets back in place and they get more money for the con.

Overall, I'm really glad this con went through and they did great for their first year.

About the locations, I have to agree with Danyelle. Even though I'll be able to drive by myself next year, my parents would not let me go to one of the big casinos for a convention. The Westin hotel was nice and I don't mind the small gambling place they had, but if it's a popular tourist place with full out gambling then it could affect the number of attendees ALV can get.

I'll still be looking forward to next year's :D

It's awesome to see that there have been so many suggestions already! Next year is going to be kick-butt, I can feel it~ *w*

ADVERTISE MORE. Seriously. Also get a good venue that won't breach contract at the last second because they're not making enough money off of you. The word 'lawsuit' is like magic in this town.

Also make sure to let all the rabidly loyal AV people know that it's not COMPETITION for Anime Vegas. It's merely another con to look forward to in the year. D:

But yeah, more dealers, more panels, and some Japanese songs for karaoke so I don't have to run back and forth to get my ipod ;o;
